Mathematical Crusade
To celebrate the World Mathematics Year 2012, Delhi Public School R.K. Puram held a mathematical crusade on 27 December, 2012. It comprised a plethora of competitions for senior school students (9th to 12th) like a Quiz, mathematical puzzles etc. The participation was keen with over 70 schools from all over India and some DPS branches abroad. From our School, 3 students of class 11 and their teacher, Ms. Neha Agrawal attended the crusade.
Alongside the competitions, the event offered a workshop for mathematics teachers conducted by Dr. Atul Nischal, founder Chairperson of the organisation Gurooz, who laid emphasis on multi-ability instructions and discussed ideas on how to incorporate the same in our classes and curriculum.
The host school also showcased a mathematical exhibition for students and teachers with a wide range of models and projects. No doubt, an enriching learning experience.
To conclude, was a lecture by Dr. Amitabh Tripathi, Associate Professor at IIT Delhi, where the speaker discussed the beauty of Bertrand's Theorem, a very important result in Number theory.
Overall, an inspiring event with several mathematical intricacies tested for students as well as teachers.
