Middle School students attend Parakram Diwas celebration at Parliament House

To commemorate Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti, a group of 35 students from classes 8 and 9 visited Parliament House on 23 January 2025. The day began at Old Parliament House, where notable dignitaries, including Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gathered to pay tribute to the legendary freedom fighter. Following the tribute, the Prime Minister engaged with the students, making the occasion even more meaningful.

Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla also graced the event. As part of the programme, Tanmay Virmani (VIII) and Hemakshi Talwar (VIII) delivered an address each, on the life and contribution of Subhash Chandra Bose. Their well-articulated presentations emphasised the enduring legacy of one of India’s greatest leaders.

Following the ceremony, the students proceeded to the New Parliament House, where they were shown the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha chambers. Among the many highlights were the “Foucault Pendulum”, a fascinating scientific installation, and the intricately designed brass roof depicting the alignment of stars as seen on 26 January 1950. A visit to the mini museum on the premise provided  insights into the evolution of India’s political system.

The visit offered an enriching experience, providing a deeper understanding of India’s democratic heritage and a rare opportunity to witness the nation’s leadership in action. It was a day of inspiration and learning, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
