Modem

MODEM is an inter-school computer symposium held annually at Modern School, Vasant Vihar. It was started with the aim of challenging the intuitiveness of students involved in Computers and Technology, through a series of events ranging from serious programming to fun filled gaming.

On 29 October 2015, nine students of our School from classes IX-XII accompanied by Ms. Ekta Chitkara participated in MODEM 2015. The event saw the participation of 15-18 schools from Delhi and NCR like Modern School, Barakhambha, DPS International School, Gyan Bharati School, Army Public School, Dhuala Kuan, and Ramjas School.

The symposium started after the inauguration ceremony. The chief guest, Mr. Sanjay Malik, Vice President, Global NI Services, addressed the gathering. He spoke about several agendas like Various Phases of Indian Tech History and also gave suggestions for improving the IT sector. Following this, all the participants were escorted to their venues.

The enthusiasm of the children was easily showcased in their work. Events were held in different domains such as: QuizBits Divyanshu Panwar andMayank Wadhwani of class XI participated in the quiz. It was held in 2 rounds the Prelims and the Finals. The Prelims was in a written questionnaire format. The finals included a visual round, an audio round and a general awareness round amongst others.

Lights, Camera, Action Participants were given the topic The Familiar and the Absurd for making a short movie clip. They clicked pictures around the school premises and then compiled these to make a short movie. Jivesh Malawalia and Vatsala Banerjee of class X had great fun clicking pictures and then compiling a film using the given software.

|M|Gamer The highlight and most 'chilled out' event of the competition. Participants competed against each other and based on their points proceeded to the finals. Ranveer Bhalla of class IX was the gamer from our school.

In the Spot Participants were required to prepare a topic that was announced on the spot. Pranati Haldia of XII and Soumya Saxena of class X participated as a team.

Code Hunt - Participants Pulkit Goyal and Prakhar Gupta (class XI) used Turboo C++ to design a program which was stored in an encrypted folder with a password.
