Multiple honours at Zonal Athletic Meet 202627
The Zonal Athletic Meet 2026–27, organised by District South, Zone-23, was held at Thyagaraj Stadium, from 24 August to 1 September 2026. The prestigious event provided a vibrant platform for young athletes from various schools to showcase their talent and compete in a wide range of track and field events across different age categories.
The meet featured an array of events, including sprint and middle-distance races, relay races, jumping events and throwing events. Students competed in the Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories in events such as the 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 600 m, 800 m and 1500 m races, along with Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, and the 4×100 m and 4×400 m relay races.
A contingent of 32 students from The Indian School participated in the Meet in great enthusiasm and determination. The young athletes displayed remarkable discipline, sportsmanship and competitive spirit, securing several commendable positions in both individual and relay events.
Among the notable achievements, Ipshita Mehra (XI-E) secured the Second Position in Shot Put in the Under-17 category. The Under-14 Boys' 4×100 m Relay Team, comprising Virat Kumar (VIII-D), Cyrus Singh (VIII-E), Inesh Mondal (VIII-B) and Aham Pandey (VIII-A), clinched the First Position. The Under-17 Boys' 4×100 m Relay Team, comprising Yug Aggarwal (X-A), Ashit Rajput (XI-B), Vishal Mandal (IX-D) and Aditya Patra (IX-C), secured the Second Position. The Under-17 Boys' 4×400 m Relay Team, comprising Yug Aggarwal (X-A), Sanket Shekhar (VIII-D), Vishal Mandal (IX-D) and Aditya Patra (IX-C), also secured the Second Position.
The students also delivered commendable performances in the individual events. Yug Aggarwal (X-A) secured the Second Position in the 100 m and the Third Position in the 200 m ( Under-17 category). Ashit Rajput (XI-B) secured the Third Position in the 800 m and Fourth Position in the 400 m (Under-17 category). Virat Kumar (VIII-D) secured the Second Position in Long Jump and the Fourth Position in the 100 m ( Under-14 category), while Veer (IX-D) secured the Second Position in the 600 m in the same category. Kartik Majhi (X-D) secured the Third Position in Triple Jump ( Under-19 category). Sanvi Mishra (X-E) secured the Fourth Position in both the Long Jump and the 200 m ( Under-17 category), while Vritant Tanwar (XI-A) secured the Fourth Position in both the 400 m and 800 m in the Under-19 category.
The participation and achievements of the students were a testament to their dedication, perseverance and rigorous training. The relay teams demonstrated exceptional coordination, synchronisation and team spirit, while the individual athletes exhibited remarkable determination and competitive excellence across various track and field events.
Their impressive performances reflected the School's continued commitment to nurturing sporting talent and promoting a culture of fitness, discipline and excellence among students.
