Myriad Christmas activities in Pre school

Christmas brings cheer and love. This year the festival was celebrated virtually, albeit with the same fervour, spreading the message of love and joy among our young Indianites.

Our children were ushered to exhibit their creativity while soaking in the spirit of Christmas. Craft activities were planned for the young Pre schoolers in a way that it kept the little ones engaged through the week. It had them very happy and engaged as they enjoy trying to do things independently.

On 15 December, 2020, a special activity, Name your Snowman was conducted in class, where each child made a snowman with paper cut-outs.

'Decorating the Christmas tree' is a time tested activity that greatly helps strengthen eye-hand coordination and sharpen the fine motor skills. It develops creative, aesthetic and cognitive skills too. To enhance the creative skills of our little ones, this activity was conducted on 17 December, 2020 in a unique way. The children used recycled material and natural products to make their special personal Christmas tree.

Aavyan of Pre-School Kokab made a Christmas tree using coconut hair, Neelakshi used broom sticks, and Pavika used coriander, cherry tomatoes and carrot to make her Christmas tree. Kathan used peanut shells and mint leaves, Jinisha used an old birthday cap and Ritanya used palm tree leaves as their materials for the activity.

Vihaan of Pre School Capella used an egg carton and orange slices, Aayansh used peanut shells, Manan used ice cream sticks and rope, Jasrin used curry leaves whereas Miwaan used leaves and waste paper for his creation.

Gurveer of Pre School Delphini made his tree with a bottle cleaning brush and decorated it with old hair clips and earrings. Dousik and Rajsi used twigs and pebbles. Mitansh used peanut shells and Yatharth used old newspaper to make his Christmas tree.

Gurkirat of Pre School Hercule used ribbon toothpicks and cotton to make a tree. Yuvaan used flowers, leaves, cotton and ice cream sticks whereas Manan used twigs and cotton to make his Christmas tree.

Students of Pre School Agena also used natural materials to make their Christmas trees. They used thermocol, waste paper and rice to showcase their creations.

A special assembly was conducted on 23 December, 2020 where a short video on the birth of Lord Jesus was shown to the children. The students dressed to represented the symbols of Christmas; Gurkirat as the Holy Bible, Nyra as a Christmas tree, Myra as the Christmas star, Anika as an angel, Adhvik as a bell, Jasrin as a candy cane, Shyaan as a candle, Praneet as a wreath, Vivaan as mistletoe, Aavyan as a Poinsettia, Aryash as a gingerbread man and Aayansh and Kovid as reindeer! Their happiness knew no bounds when Aarav dressed as Santa and Kavyush as a Christmas present made a virtual appearance reaffirming the fact that the joy of giving is worth more than the gifts. The children sang carols tapping the feet in their joy.

Keeping in mind our Sanskara syllabus the teachers taught the children to share their blessings with the less fortunate by sharing sweets, old toys and warm clothes with them. This is the spirit of Christmas, they said.
