National convention for educators- teacher workshop

A national convention for educators was organised by Bluebells School on the occasion of its 60th anniversary at the IIC between 1 and 3 July, 2017. Titled, 'The power of one: Be the change', the three-day journey started with an elaborate and enlightening inaugural session by eminent change makers like Dr. Rajni Kumar (chairperson, Springdales Education Society), Shri Anil Swarup, IAS, Secretary School Education and Literacy, (MHRD), Dr. Mallika Sarabhai, Padma Bhushan and social activist, among others.

For outstation participants, the host school had also organised a heritage walk to Chandni Chowk and Purana Qila as a part of the programme.

The following day saw an inspiring outpouring of ideas, stories and experiences from several notable speakers. Addresses by educationists included those by Ms. Avnita Bir ( Principal R N Podar School, Mumbai) and Ms. Jo Chopra (Founder- Latika Ray Memorial Foundation, Dehradun) and TV anchor Ms. Natasha Jog, NDTV, who conducted a panel discussion with students from various schools on the question Could the youth spearhead change for a just society. The brainstorming was not limited to the group on stage, but teachers and students freely posed questions. The day ended with an hour-long self-reflection, 'Kabir ke dohe' by Kabir Caf, noted neo fusion rock band from Mumbai.

The convention reinforced that change is inevitable, and is indicative of the fact that it is possible to change the future of our children through education; to help them examine and question the world around then and address their own vulnerabilities confidently.

Two teachers from our School, Ms. Ekta Bidhuri and Ms. Sumi Dennis Simon attended the occasion and enjoyed the enrichment from interacting with their peers in the teaching community.
