National Unity Day
On 31st October 2018, the students of our School observed the 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The occasion is also named Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
The day started with a Prabhaat Pheri conducted by the students of Middle School, where they took a round on foot in the Schools neighbourhood, calling out some timeless teachings of the Sardar as slogans.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel also known as Sardar Patel was Indias first Deputy Prime Minister. Deeply involved in the politics of India, this very senior leader of the Indian National Congress played an extremely important role in creating the Republic of India. A statesman and a barrister, the Sardar played an integral role in bringing together numerous princely states to form a new, united India.
To pay tribute to the Iron Man of India, the students of class 9 also conducted an impressive march past on the Schools play field. This was followed by an oath ceremony- each one made a pledge to preserve unity, integrity and security of the motherland.
A power point presentation prepared by Sakshi and Ananya of class 9A showcasing the role of Sardar Patel in the freedom movement was shared with the class.
It was a spontaneous showcasing of pride in the contribution of the great leader and the humble homage to his memory.
