Nexus Legalis'24- an intra school legal symposium

The first edition of Nexus Legalis '24, an intra school event designed to develop legal skills among our students, was held on 15 October 2024 at our School. The symposium provided a rich platform to the students of classes IX to XII to demonstrate legal prowess in three thoughtfully curated competitions, namely, 'Court It!' (Moot Court), 'Amend Your Constitution' and 'Be the Judge' (Judgement Writing). Each competition highlighted unique aspects of legal practice, from public speaking to analytical reasoning.

The Court It! Moot Court competition offered students an authentic courtroom experience, requiring them to argue complex legal cases. Judged by School alumni, Vanya Chadha and Shreyansh Mohapatra, this event challenged students to apply their understanding of legal principles while sharpening their oratory skills. Dhruvi and Mannat Suri of class XI emerged victorious, impressing judges and peers alike, with their case presentations and logical reasoning.

In Amend Your Constitution, participants had the opportunity to explore and propose amendments to constitutional laws, a task that emphasised creativity and a nuanced understanding of legislative processes. Judged by Tanya Trehan (alumnus), the competition pushed students to defend their ideas passionately. Ultimately, Md. Arsalan and Aanyaka of class IX claimed victory, showcasing their ability to think critically about constitutional law and policy.

The Be the Judge (Judgement Writing) segment saw students demonstrate judicial thinking by crafting well-reasoned judgements on complex case scenarios. Guided by judges Dhwani Arora and Tarush Verma, both alumni, students displayed impressive skill in legal interpretation and written expression. Yatharth Verma (XII D) and Kartikeya Negi (XII E) delivered particularly compelling judgements, earning them the top spots in this category.

The event’s success is a testament to the tireless efforts of a dedicated organising committee, led by Jyotshna Ghor, Paavani Khaana, Diya Mishra (XII E), Madhav Munjal (X C), and Ananya Basu (X E).

Nexus Legalis '24 celebrated collaboration, enthusiasm, and intellectual growth, creating an encouraging environment for young legal minds to shine. The event was a success, leaving students and staff eager for future editions that will continue to inspire and challenge.
