NIIT Nguru Mathematics Workshop
A Mathematics workshop was organised by NIIT Nguru at Park Hotel, Connaught Place on 20th December 2014.
The workshop commenced with a street play on the relevance of mathematics in our daily lives. The actors effectively showcased the need and importance of the subject, evoking the interest of all present. This was followed by a panel discussion on the" Tears and Joys of learning Math". The panel consisted of Principals, students and parents of schools from Delhi-NCR. The discussion explored the fear of math faced by students, the pivotal role of critical thinking and also emphasised the significance of a Math Laboratory in schools. It also reiterated 'learning by doing' to ensure the long-lasting learning of fundamental concepts.
The chief guest on the occasion was Vishwanathan Anand, Former World Chess Champion. He shared his experience on learning by doing for a better understanding of his subject. He also laid importance on the importance of logical thinking which is enabled by math. A talk by Mr. Raju Rajendran, COO, NIIT demonstrated the upsurge in results, post the advent of math labs in schools.
The meet concluded with a felicitation of schools having NIIT's digital math labs.
