One-day Capacity Building Teacher Workshop on Integration of ICT in Teaching, Learning and Assessment

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can impact student learning when teachers are digitally literate and understand how to integrate it into the curriculum.

CBSE held a Capacity Building Programme on integrating ICT in teaching, learning and assessment for teachers on 18 May 2022 from 9:30 am to 4 pm at the CBSE regional office, I. P. Extension.

Ms Pooja Bahl of the computer science department of The Indian School attended the one day workshop. 50 teachers from various schools of Delhi- NCR attended the workshop.

Resource persons Ms Chetna Khanna and Ms Maninder Kaur divided the session into three modules to cover Scratch, Google Slides, PowerPoint, and Google Forms for better dissemination.

Ms Maninder Kaur commenced the workshop with a brief explanation of how tools like PowerPoint and Google Slides help make lessons interactive for students through dynamic, vibrant slides with engaging text, audio, video, and hyperlinks. Students can do projects on various topics in different subjects to help develop and enhance their creative, logical and thinking abilities and build team spirit.

Next, Ms Chetna Khanna introduced Google Form, a free online software for creating surveys and questionnaires. She explained how we can personalise the Google Form with question types, a header image and a colour theme. She also explained customising themes, creating quizzes, showing automatic response accuracy levels to students, and shuffling questions in random order.

Considering the importance of coding today, Ms Khanna continued the session with Scratch, a free programming language developed by MIT to create programmes by simply dragging the blocks in the Scripts Area. Users can create projects, such as interactive stories, animations or games in easy steps that help develop skills like creative thinking, reasoning ability, and teamwork while making students work on Scratch.

The session emphasised the integration of ICT in teaching, learning and assessment and provided ways to help teachers break the monotony of the class.

The session explored tools and activities like interactive videos, presentations, and e-flashcards to make the class more interactive for students and teachers.

The workshop was productive as the teacher-participants gained valuable insights into the vivid aspects of demonstrative teaching and learnt innovative ways of engaging with pupils.
