Our School hosts intra School badminton tournament

The Indian School organised the first edition of its Intra School Badminton Tournament from 26th to 28th December 2016. The event had five categories Boys Singles, Girl Singles, Boys Doubles, Girls Doubles and Mixed Doubles. The participants comprised of badminton enthusiasts of classes 9 and 10.

All the students assembled near the courts on the morning of the 26th to be allotted their categories. The qualifying matches for the finals were played on two days, the 26th and 27th. During the semi-finals, in the boys single category, Dhairya Sachdeva (9) played against Ayush Gupta (9) while Hitesh Pardasani (10) played against Aryan Gupta (9). The victors, Dhairya Sachdeva and Aryan Gupta then faced each other in the finals. The match was a close one till the very end but Dhairya eventually took the thunder from Aryan. Aaryan Gupta received the silver medal and Aayush Gupta the bronze.

In the girls single category, Sharanya (10) played against Gursimar Kaur (9) in the finals. Sharanya emerged victorious and took the gold while Gursimar Kaur (9) and Isha Sharma (9) took the silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the boys doubles', the gold went to Aatif Husain (10) and Nipunh Kothari (10) while the silver went to Aryan Gupta (9) and Randhir Manchanda (9). The bronze medal went to Gunraj Singh (9) and Shivinder Bahl (9).

In the girls doubles' category, the gold medal went to Isha Sharma (9) and Gursimer Jaye Bajaj (9), the silver to Reha Khanna (9) and Nitikaa Manocha (9) and bronze to Janis Oberoi (10) and Shivangini Sharma (10).

The last category was the mixed doubles. The gold medal in this category went to Divjyot Singh (10) and Sharanya Sai (10), the silver to Nipunh Kothari (10) and Avantika Chodha (10) and the bronze to Ayush Raheja (9) and Isha Sharma (9).

The tournament was a thumping success, with the participation of over 70 students. The three days were not only a splendid display of skill, but also a platform for several students to try out a new sport.
