On 7 May 2012, Amrita Dutta, class 12, Gaurav Aswani, 11, Pavas Navani, 11, Palak Aneja, 10 and Ojasvi Jain 10 attended a concluding workshop under the auspices, as above, organised by CBSE and Expressions' India at the National Science Center. The participants were to be felicitated for their involvement in the 6-month long workshop and Wellness Summit. The event was presided over by Dr. Jitendra Nagpal, mentor and guide during the entire session, and Ms. Sadhana Parasher, Education Officer, CBSE.
The 4 hour long convocation included the awards of certificates and Peer Educator badges as also a long and interactive discussion on varied topics ranging from anger-management to sexual health. Inputs were received from Dr.Nagpal as well as from the students and isues that had been raised in the preceding sessions were carried to comfort and constructive conclusion here.
We, as Peer Educators of The Indian School, took a pledge to act as moderators at our School and help our friends and classmates to resolve issues for which we have been trained. We also worked out strategies to spread awareness in our respective schools specifically on substance-buse, sexual health, risk-taking behaviour, disturbed family relationships, anger-management, peer-pressure, first aid etc. We came back with a confidence and conviction of making a difference.
As reported by Amrita Dutta, class 12C.
