Portraits of Self Discovery
As per tradition at our School, this year too, students, stepped into their new academic year with an exercise of self-discovery. They painted
self-portraits in their art classes.
Students of primary attempted innovating with art, like creating portraits within the contours of the alphabet of their names, discovering texture through Pointillism ( using small distinct dots developed in 1886 by George Seurat and Paul Signac). Students used earbuds dipped in different colours to give the pointillism effect to their self-portraits.

Middle School explored charcoal as a medium to for their self-portraits, applying a technique called chiaroscuro- the use of gradations of light and shade to enhance the delineation of character and to create a dramatic effect.
Senior students experimented with the marbling technique on paper using enamel paints for the texture and creating self-reflective silhouette marbled portraits. As before, students were free to explore, express and execute their self-portraits without a fear of being judged during the self-discovery week.
