Gathering of Grandparents on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, 1October, 2012
An unusual invocation like last year, entreated the memory of the Mahatma in our midst at a special assembly on 1 October,2012. Our grandparents assembled in the auditorium with the children of middle school at 8 am to sing in their togetherness, as it were, the bhajans dear to Bapu. Beginning with the timeless 'Abide with me..' and continuing with Raghupati Raghav..' and 'Vaishnava Jana to', the hall resounded with the sound of assorted musical instruments in harmony, embedded with verses of verity.
[gallery] Principal ma'am warmly welcomed the grandparents as they collected after which Ms. Deepali Gupta, sports teacher articulated for the children the undying significance of all that Bapu taught. A salt rangoli specially created by the art students was their shraddhanjali to Gandhiji's non-violent satyagraha by salt at Dandi. 'Jalebi-gathiya', a traditional breakfast in Gujarat was offered as the guests stepped out, giving grandparents familiarity of the flavours from the place of Bapu's birth.
