Pre-primaries visit Deer Park

Pre -Primary and Pre-school along with their teachers and didis enjoyed their excursion to Deer Park, as scheduled in the month of January. This is a unique park where one can see scores of hopping deer even as one walks upon the nicely cut trails following a pretty lake. The water body is also very lively with seasonal birds and welcoming ducks, besides the fountains playing.

The trip was both educational as well as recreational. Children were very excited to see the deer and the peacock in their natural habitat. Besides running freely up manmade mounds to amidst lush green all around. Fancy this in the middle of Delhi.

We began with a nature walk where the children excitedly stumbled upon sights of deer and their fawn sunning themselves, secure in their surroundings. Children fed carrots and cabbage to the deer which they had carried from home. An endearing sight was a crow sitting in unbroken bliss on the back of a deer! As also the children reaching out in empathy to a deer with broken antlers.

An informative experience for the children, the excursion got them thinking and asking about the animals. They listened in rapt attention to their teachers as they explained how deer are excellent jumpers and also run very fast to escape their predators. The children saw the peacocks spread their feathers and were told why they do so.

After the nature walk, it was time for group games and the customary packed-snack.

Last but not the least. the children enjoyed colouring their deer park worksheet. They readily shared their experience while creating their recollections on paper. Their teachers were overwhelmed by their keen eye and hastened to exhibit some on the display board.
