Pre school engages in a 'Show n Tell' activity and a Quiz on Community Helpers

On 18 October 2024 and 28 October 2024, our Pre schoolers enthusiastically participated in two activities, namely "Dress to Impress - Show and Tell" and "Our Helping Hands - Quiz on Community Helpers", held at School. These enriching events aimed to cultivate awareness and appreciation for vital community roles, instilling in our young scholars the value of interdisciplinary learning and the interconnectedness of various subjects. By integrating multiple disciplines like language, mathematics, drama, and logical reasoning, the interactive events fostered a holistic understanding of community helpers and their impact on our daily lives.

The "Dress to Impress" event provided students with an engaging opportunity to share personal experiences and forge meaningful connections with community helpers. This interactive introductory segment fostered public speaking skills, creativity and confidence. Students carried various props and wore costumes, showcasing their favourite community helpers. For instance, one student was dressed as a firefighter, another as a cleaner, and yet another as a doctor using a toy medical kit to demonstrate a check-up. This session not only honed students' communication skills and encouraged peer learning, but also fostered a sense of empathy and social awareness.

Subsequently, a captivating quiz ensued, comprising two intellectually stimulating rounds. The first round, a question-and-answer session, evaluated the children's proficiency in recognising community helpers. The young participants exhibited remarkable eagerness and accuracy, earning smileys for each correct response, demonstrating their impressive command of the subject matter.

The second round, an art-integrated puzzle-solving segment, leveraged visual-spatial skills to sequence numbers 1-10. By harmoniously blending art and mathematics, this interactive activity fostered creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving prowess, exemplifying our School's commitment to holistic learning.

The enthusiastic participation of the audience elevated the quiz to a vibrant forum for community engagement. By articulating personal experiences and encounters with community helpers, teachers bridged the gap between theoretical and real-life knowledge.

These interactions not only highlighted the students' knowledge but also facilitated the creation of meaningful connections. The reciprocal exchange exemplified their mastery of the subject while revealing the complex web of relationships that bind our society. This deeper exploration fostered a greater appreciation for the selfless contributions of the community helpers.

In an extraordinary display of collective excellence, all teams earned an equal number of points, culminating in a well-deserved tie. Head Teacher – Primary, Ms Vandana Tiwari, proudly awarded stars to the victorious teams, acknowledging their creativity, teamwork and unwavering commitment.

The event was a resounding success, celebrating our students' exceptional talents and highlighting the important roles of community helpers. It left a lasting impact, fostering a deeper appreciation for these vital contributors. We proudly acknowledge our students' achievements and look forward to supporting their growth as compassionate, informed members of society.
