Prodigy 10.0- an inter school competition at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies
On 28th October 2016, four students of class XII - Ashutosh Gupta, Simran Khurana, Anant Sharma and Siddharth Mehra got the opportunity to compete with some of the best minds in our country at a competition organised by the Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies - 'Prodigy 10.0 - The Ivory Tower Breakout '. The tenth year of this competition had some 'out of the box' events.
The event's preliminary round was based on a case study analysis which our School cleared by email. The students were required to offer a solution to the case study. Our School cleared it while beating more than 80 schools to reach the main event! At the Patel Chest Institute, the venue for the same, there were two rounds to clear for the finals.
Simran Khurana and Ashutosh Gupta took part in 'QUIZZING CROSSROADS', where they couldn't rely on simple general knowledge about current affairs, instead they had to bid with confidence, take risks and be impulsive. The students had to go through 5 rounds of mind-boggling questions where a fixed amount of capital was given each time and a bid out of the same, was to be placed on every question! Everyone built their own strategies and ideas because only the ones with the highest capital would win.

The other event was named AGE OF AVARIC. The name of the event was unique, and much suited to an era of extreme greed for wealth or material gain. For this event, two of our participants, Siddharth Mehra and Anant Sharma, had to go through rounds of auctioning which involved intensive bidding and the application of their minds to decide how they would best make profits in the stock market. There were a number of avenues in which the participants had to invest to make profit.
Both the events were a perfect blend of knowledge and application and had every participant on his toes to get through to the next round. Of the 65 teams participating, 12 were to qualify. Combined results for both the events would decide their fate.
Our School got through to reach the finals. 'THE HEURISTIC HINTERLANDS' was a mix of everything we seemed to have learnt in all these school years! It consisted of twelve kingdoms on the same island at war. The students were required to bid and buy a kingdom, build an army, give a speech and gather supporters to form coalitions, and in the end, attack! It was like a virtual game had been converted to real life.
The experience was thrilling and the students were ecstatic. Our students finished in the top 6 and even though they didn't make it to the first position, the day had given them memories to keep for a lifetime.
It was indeed a delight to be a part of one of the best competitions ever!
