There were three participants from each school, two speakers and one interjector. Our team comprised Anika Malhotra, Aryan Singh and Vidhi Wadhwa of XI-B. Anika and Aryan were the speakers whereas Vidhi was the interjector. Our team had to choose one topic of the three given to them. They chose to speak on Manav Bhudhi Per Kratrim Bhudhi Bhari. The other topics were: Swatantrata milti hai kranti se and Khwahishyen ho puri, bhale hi parvarish rahe adhuri.

Aryan spoke for the motion and talked about how artificial intelligence had been able to mesmerise the world with the robot using its ability to think and act like a human. He said that it was possible for a computer to defeat the masters of chess in an online game! He added that AI greatly enables a reduction of time and space deployed by traditional methods of storage and data processing.

Anika defended her stand and touched upon the emotional aspect of the human mind which any robot or level of AI will fail to replace. Robots are after all are programmed by humans themselves. Therefore humans can never be displaced from the uppermost level of the intellectual hierarchy.

All the students spoke confidently and presented their arguments with conviction. Some of the points made by the other speakers were, that AI could be used to replace human workman in jobs like that of a a waiter, mechanic and helper. It thus has the ability to decrease the burden on the financial exchequer. Some of the points spoken against the topic were, that AI had turned man into an idle being. Also AI cant work spontaneously on its own- it is subject to the instructions fed in its memory.

The battle of words was indeed a treat for the ears.
