Recognition Day 2018

Mario Andretti once said, Desire is the key to motivation, but it is determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal, a commitment to excellence, that will enable you to attain the success you seek.

On 11 May 2018, Recognition Day for the academic year 2017-18, was held at School, to award student achievers who performed exceptionally in academics, sports and co curricular activities.

It was a day for celebrating enthusiasm, commitment and effort for honouring those who worked hard and who, like detectives, relentlessly pursued the path to success.

We at The Indian School believe in the holistic development of the students and ample opportunities are provided to them not only in academics, but also in the co scholastic sphere. Keeping this in mind, the School awarded the students for being best in scholastics, all rounders and for excelling in co-curricular activities and sports. The efforts of students of classes V to XI were recognised and awarded on the occasion.

The proud parents of the award winners were present to witness the ceremony along with our Vice- Chairperson, Dr. Mrs. Naina Goradia, Principal Ms. Tania Joshi, Vice-Principals, Dr. Anu Singh and Ms. Sukhmeen Cheema and the PTA.

The programme began with the School choir presenting a special bandish, set to the teen taal in Raag Vrindavani Saarang, and culminating in Gurudev Rabindranath Tagores famous song Ekla Cholo Re. The endearing audience was spellbound by the sheer creativity and harmony of the piece.

Principal Ms. Joshi addressed the gathering, laying stress on the importance of recognising and congratulating students for their performance.

The award giving ceremony began with Dr. Mrs. Nayana Goradia honouring the achievers of the class XI Commerce and Humanities streams. Ms. Joshi gave away the prizes for the class XI Science stream.

Subsequently, awards were presented by Dr. Anu Singh, Ms. Sukhmeen Cheema, Ms. Sunita Singh, ( Coordinator classes VI-VIII) and Sports teacher Ms. Deepali Gupta, along with the PTA Representatives present at the ceremony.

The western music band performed on the occasion too, to celebrate the achievement of the glorious Indianites. A jazz track Autumn Leaves by Eva Cassidy was presented in Bossa, which enraptured and enthralled the audience!

Sports awards were given to students for excellence in different sports at the national and international levels. Students were given scholarships of Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000, and 3 meritorious students were awarded with a full fee waiver by the School.

Recognition Day greatly helps students appreciate the worth of hard work and dedication and encourages them to work beyond individual calibre and capacity. For the students who didnt qualify for an award this year were encouraged to refresh their effort for the next time. Challenges are just a way up, waiting to be taken on, it was explained.

Where victims see adversity, extreme achievers see opportunity - Robin Sharma.

We hope next year the list of winners is longer, with more achievers taking back home awards and memories of a remarkable day!
