People say that Ruskin Bond is an author with a magic pen. On 7th November, 2014 our English teacher took us to K.R Mangalam World School for a rendezvous with the legendary writer Ruskin Bond and to witness the inauguration of his newly published book Love From The Hills . After the book was inaugurated Ruskin Bond read some funny lines from it for us. He also narrated a few snippets from his life. We were told that his first book was not well appreciated.
Ruskin Bond started writing books when he was 17 years old. He loves to write for children. When he was young he always took advice from his editors and continues to do so. Ruskin Bond shared many anecdotes with us. He told us that he loves to sleep! He said that when he was in school he always read books. He always wrote stories by hand and never used a typewriter. He told us that he feels that when people read books they feel them and should often go beyond the story. Ruskin Bond writes stories for readers to get lost in them .
When people read horror stories of Ruskin Bond they are not able to sleep at night! That is what he told us, he even said that if we write a story, we should not write about our teachers. He told us that if his autobiography or biography is ever made into a film, he would like Anupam Kher to play him! According to him, children who chat on laptops and tabs should read books and if they dont listen, all these things should be thrown out of the window! While sharing his childhood incidents he told us that when he was young he wanted to be a tap dancer and when his mother came to know of this, she got angry, scolded him and ordered him to join the army!It was a great experience for me to meet Ruskin Bond.
