Road Safety workshop for Primary
A Road Safety workshop was organised for the students of classes III, IV, and V on 18 April 2026 on the School premises. The session was conducted by Mr Manpreet Singh, a seasoned Safety Advisor with over thirteen years of professional expertise, associated with Honda and the Delhi Traffic Police.
The event commenced with a cordial welcome by Head Teacher-Primary, Ms Vandana Tiwari, who introduced the speaker and highlighted the vital importance of road safety awareness for young learners. Teachers remained present throughout, ensuring active participation and maintaining discipline.
Designed as an experiential learning session, the workshop sought to instil awareness about safe and responsible behaviour on the roads. Mr Singh used a powerpoint presentation alongside practical demonstrations to make the session both engaging and informative. He explained essential concepts such as the significance of traffic lights, pedestrian crossing rules, and the correct use of zebra crossings. He emphasised the golden rule of “stop, look right, look left, and look right again” before crossing. Clear instructions were also provided on the dos and don’ts of travelling safely with regard to public transport, particularly school buses.
In addition, the speaker explained the various road markings—for instance, dotted lines indicating that overtaking is permitted, and double solid lines signifying that overtaking is prohibited.
To deepen understanding, several students were invited on stage to participate in live demonstrations. They enacted everyday road situations, such as crossing correctly, recognising traffic signals, and following pedestrian rules. These interactive activities not only enlivened the session but also enabled the students to visualise and practise safe road behaviour in a realistic manner.
The workshop covered crucial topics including the appropriate use of pedestrian crossings, the importance of obeying traffic signals, helmet and seatbelt safety, and general road discipline. The students responded with enthusiasm, eagerly answering questions and sharing their own experiences related to road safety.
The session proved highly informative and impactful. It enabled students to grasp road safety rules with clarity and encouraged them to adopt safe practices in their daily lives. Above all, the workshop successfully fostered awareness and instilled a sense of responsibility among young learners, guiding them towards becoming careful and alert road users.
