Rolling trophy at Lingua Fiesta, Bluebells' International, 29 July, 2013

Anubha Saggar of class 12 and Prita Ray of class 11 got the opportunity to be a part of Lingua Fiesta, a stimulating literary event on 29 July, celebrating the story of the Bronte sisters. The event was hosted by Bluebells' International School.

A rewarding conclusion to the hard work we put in was preceded by many tense moments of practice and speech delivery, editing and re-editing of our speeches and intense research in the library We reached Bluebells around 8.30 am and then proceeded to the auditorium to join the other competing schools, all with eager eyes set upon the prize!

The programme commenced with beautiful renditions of extracts from the most famous works of the Bronte sisters and went on to a detailed, comprehensive, in- depth perspective of each of the main characters of the books in discussion. The competition had two events, a Book Discussion on the works of the Bronte sisters with both, the aspects of Literary Appreciation as well as Criticism. This was followed by a 20 minute break.

Round 2 of the competition was a Film Review of the movie, Devotion, released in 1946 which is a biopic on the life of the Bronte family, with an old cinematic, romantic twist. Pritha Ray critically analysed the characters of Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre and Agnes Grey, cleverly comparing them with situations from contemporary times. Anubha Saggar pointed out how highly fictionalised account she believes the biography became when made into the movie.

It was a long wait until the anxiously awated result was declared! There cannot be a sweeter momenof than one of perserverance rewarded! Pritha and Anubha, both took the best speaker awards, first and second position respectively for their participating events. Our School was thereby also handed the Rolling Rabindranath Tagore Trophy for the first position in Lingua Fiesta.

Our heartfelt gratitude to our Principal, Mrs.Tania Joshi and teacher, Mrs. Sonia Majumdar for their guidance and ofcourse to School for this wonderful opportunity. We, not only came back overjoyed and enriched, but also sunken in reverie, as it were, from the romance of the rich literature we had researched!
