Run For Fun Fit India Movement initiative

On 21 December 2019, nine students of classes VII, IX and XI accompanied by Ms Deepali Gupta and Ms Seema Atal helped in organising the Womens Athletic Meet on the grounds at Sadiq Nagar. The event was organised in collaboration with Garbage Free India, an NGO working towards reusing, reducing and recycling waste generated in our neighbourhood. Our students undertake social work as a part of the SEWA project work and here too they got an opportunity to spread awareness about physical fitness among the women residing in this neighbourhood in the Schools vicinity. The event was conducted under the aegis of the Fit India Movement.

The students helped in organising the different races like the 50 mts, Lemon and Spoon race, Relay race, Hurdle race, the Three-legged race and other sporting activities to promote fitness among the women. The women were divided into three categories according to their age. The categories were 21 to 30 years, 31 to 40 years and 40 and above. The event which lasted the whole day witnessed participation from as many as 70 women from the neighbouring societies of Sadiq Nagar. Young children who accompanied their mothers also showed great enthusiasm and cheered the participants through the event. A special relay race wasbheld for them too!

The students who helped in organise the event were Ryan Suri, Shruti Negi and Shivangi Sharma (XI-D), Twisha Kacker (XI-C), Nidhi Daga (XI-A), Saransh Jha (IX-B), Rudra Manchanda and Harleen (IX-C) and Teena Daga (VIII-E).

The team from Garbage Free India took the opportunity to sensitise the participants and their families about waste management and its importance. The event ended with a small prize distribution ceremony to acknowledge the efforts of the participants.
