On 18 January 2024, the students of classes VIII and IX got the special opportunity to partake in a dialogue with esteemed chairperson, Mr. Prafull Goradia, on ‘Morals and Ethics’.
As a practise, Chairman Sir continuously enlightens students with his wide range of experiences and generously imparts his vast knowledge. Students gain essential insights from these dynamic conversations. The session initiated with students raising inquiries related to the topic. Their questions dived deep into the true meaning and the need for good morals and ethics. The students’ enthusiasm to know more during the workshop was truly commendable. Their active participation and engagement demonstrated a genuine thirst for learning.
Sir enlightened the students on the concept of morality which can vary based on distance, location and time. To facilitate a better understanding for the children, he gave an example, comparing the moral perspectives of an individual residing in the USA to that of someone living in India. He also imparted a valuable life lesson to the students, emphasising the importance of acquiring morals from both literature and real-life encounters. He also conveyed to the students that morals are intrinsic to an individual, hence, can be changed. Furthermore, he provided students with his personally crafted definition of ethics, stating that ethics can be understood as “the product of self-interest multiplied by time”.
Concluding his discussion, Chairman Sir said that morality undergoes shifts based on time and place, whereas ethics are more permanent. He went beyond the scheduled content, willingly delving into related areas and offering additional resources and generously sharing his knowledge and transforming the workshop into a collaborative and inspiring space for all the students.
