Self-Discovery Week in class 1

Our School has always aimed to provide quality education. We devise innovative approaches to motivate the children to bring out their best. One such is the Self Discovery Week planned at the beginning of each academic session.

Class 1 also had a set of activities planned for this week. The week began with self- portraits where the children were encouraged to draw impressions of themselves on sheets and colour them. They were told to incorporate shapes such as a circle, recantagle or triangle in these drawings. They were then told to complete sentences provided by the teacher describing themselves which they penned down next to the drawings.

Next, each child was asked to bring a picture of his favourite family member and describe him or her in sentences. Here too, the basic sentence was provided to the child while he or she had to choose an appropriate word to complete it.

In another interesting activity, the children were each asked to draw a picture of their favourite food and describe it in three words. There were many different versions and an interesting range of adjectives that the children came up with to describe them.

The activities were thought-provoking and engaging. The children also produced unusual pieces of work which were later exhibited in the reception area to be viewed by all.
