Silico Battles v11.1 2015

An inter-school computer competition titled Silico Battles v11.1 was held at Ahlcon Public School on 3rd November 2015. This is an event that helps students to make a mark as budding I.T. professionals in an ever changing industry. It is one of the most sought after and happening events within Delhi and the N.C.R. 50 schools participated in this competition. Some of these were:

DPS, RK Puram Mayur School, Noida Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar DPS, Indirapuram KR Mangalam, Greater Kailash

14 students from our school participated in various events at the competition. These were:

1. Junior Quiz:- Samarth Saxena and Ayushi of class IX participated in this challenging quiz which was based on questions from the world of IT and computers. Some of the questions were Name the CEO of Xiaomi company, What is the full form of T.C.P protocol?. The event was held for the students of classes VI-IX and the time allotted for this event was 90 minutes.

2. DJ Mixing:- KritiWadhwa and Akarsh of class IX participated in this audio event in which the participants had to create a new tune by mixing available tunes, beats and songs. The event was held for the students of classes IX-XII and the event duration was 90 minutes. Our students secured third position in this event.

3. Digital Imaging:- Ritwika Dasgupta and Mohd. Hammad of class X participated in this Photoshop event where the participants had to develop an image using the provided images and brushes on the spot, with the help of Adobe Photoshop CC software. The event was held for students of classes IX-XII and the event duration was 90 minutes. The topic provided to them was Scientific Fiction.

4. Group Discussion:- Ishan Singh of class IX participated in this event where the participant had to discuss the topic, Home Automation. The event was held for the students of classes IX-XII. It was wonderful to listen to students offering their views on automating the home to detect human presence.

5. Surprise:- Manav Arora of class X participated in this 'mystery- laden' and challenging event, where participants had to carry their own watches, pens, etc. Random questions based on mental ability and IT were asked. The time allotted for this event was 2 hours and 30 minutes.

6. Senior Programming:- Prakhar Gupta and Divyanshu Panwar of class XI participated in this programming event where questions were based on arithmetic, logic and graphics in C++ programming language. Some of the questions were Print 1 to 100 without using a loop and Identify the errors. The event was held for students of classes X-XII and the time allotted was 1 hour.

7. Cartoon Making:- Viraaj Gaba and Khushal Bansal of class III participated in this event where they had to recreate the given cartoon character using Microsoft Paint 5.1 or Paint.NET. The subject given to them was Mickey Mouse. The event was held for students of class III. The event duration was 1 hour.

8. Gaming:- Gurmeher and Satwik of class IX participated in this fun gaming event where Racing, FPS and WWE were given to them. The participants were allowed to carry personal external hardware except storage devices. The event was held for the students of classes IX-XII and there was no time limit.

All the participants from our School performed very confidently and offered their best. Congratulations to Kriti Wadhwa and Akarsh Ahuja for grabbing third position in the DJ Mixing event. The competition was indeed a fun learning experience.
