Skype classroom for class 2A with peers in a Greek school
The students of class II A, accompanied by their teacher, Ms Shikha Sharma, participated in an online interactive session with Ms Sofia Zax and her students at the 3rd Nipiagogio (Kindergarten) of Kalambaka, Greece, on October 30, ’23 from 11:15 a.m to noon IST.
The programme aimed to demonstrate that individuals can adapt and thrive in new environments, and it sought to celebrate the richness of diversity.
After the greetings, the Mystery Skype session saw the virtual visitors guess the host country based on clues provided by our young Indianite, Pritika Mitra. She offered clues like yoga has its origin in our country, and so on. The young students from Greece were quick to catch on, with the help of their teacher, and guessed that they were interacting with peers based in India!
After this exciting ice-breaker, the students introduced themselves to the Greek students by presenting the Indian national symbols and famous heritage sites through a PowerPoint presentation. Aarjav Gupta introduced our national flower and our national game, Rajsi Mishra spoke about the tricolour, Jasmyra Kaur spoke about our national animal and our national bird. Atiksh Gupta and Shanzay Hayat described famous Indian tourist attractions.
The students in Greece were keen on learning about India’s rich cultural heritage. On their part, they discussed the famous philosophers Plato and Aristotle. Their students, Jimmy, Venia, and Egli, shared their presentation on Greek art and the artworks created by students in class. The group across the screen taught our group how to say hello in Greek!
Our little curious learners were thrilled to be given this opportunity. This programme served as an inspiring model for future cultural exchange initiatives. The information and experience we gathered will go a long way in helping our endeavours to learn more about the amazing cultures of our country and others.
