Skype classroom on Artificial Intelligence
The students of class IX of The Indian School got a wonderful opportunity to interact with Mr Swapan Rajdev in a Skype session on 27 August 2019.
Mr Swapan Rajdev is co-Founder and CTO of Haptik? one of the world's largest Chatbot platforms, building applications for consumers, publishers, and enterprises. Mr. Rajdev shared his experience of working with Artificial Intelligence and Chatbots. He discussed The Art of Artificial Intelligence with students and explained how conversational AI will create more skilled jobs in the future. He went on to define Artificial Intelligence as a concept where a machine performs tasks which normally requires human intelligence.

Mr Rajdev stated that machine-learning and AI have been around for a long time but have only been subjects for labs. But of late, these concepts have become a part of our daily lives. He cited Google as one of the biggest examples. Every time we search for something on Google, the search results shown are the outcome of a smart machine learning on its own, based on the search history of the user. Amazons and Flipkarts machines also identify which product is likely to prompt you to make a purchase! The results shown to you may differ from the results shown to the person sitting next to you. This is where Artificial Intelligence works wonders and machines automatically decide what needs to be shown to each one of us, based on our past purchase behaviour.
At last students interacted with Mr Rajdev on Artificial Intelligence. They asked questions like Will AI replace teachers? Could AI be the future of cancer diagnosis? Will it help to cure cancer? What is the difference between Weak AI and Strong AI?
Mr Swapan summed up by saying that he truly believes in the potential of AI to change the world we live in. Humans and machines are going to co-exist and hence, each one of us needs to think of ways to stay ahead of the curve. That is what makes us smarter than any other living being on this planet.
It was an enlightening experience for the students.
