Special Assembly for Baisakhi and Ambedkar Jayanti by class 5.

On 7th March, 2017, a joint assembly was conducted by all the sections of class V to observe Baisakhi and Ambedkar Jayanti.

The assembly began with the School choir singing on the occasion of Baisakhi. The song was specially composed for the occasion. Students then lined up in stage to speak by turn about the significance of celebrating Baisakhi.

Baisakhi is the harvest festival of North India, celebrating the bounty of the winter or the Rabi crop. It is observed in the month of April in the Hindu month of Baisakh. For the Sikh community, the festival also marks the anniversary of the Khalsa founded by Guru Gobind Singh. On this day he chose his five devoted disciples, namely Panj Pyarae, and established the five Ks of Sikhism- kachha (shorts), kesh (long hair), kargha (small comb), kirpan (a kind of dagger) and kada (iron bangle).
