Special assembly for Diwali in Pre school

The soft flames of earthen lamps, the home filled with tongue tingling sweetmeats, the warmth of family and friends and the nip of the oncoming winter, thats how wed like to paint a perfect picture of Diwali celebrations.

On this joyous occasion, the Pre school classes of The Indian School, celebrated Diwali online, with their infectious enthusiasm from Friday, 29 October 2021 to Tuesday, 2 November 2021. Festivals are all about happiness, cheer and Diwali this year is a little different as the children were taught about responsible gifting and conscious giving.

The Pre schoolers donated toys for the children of NGO Palna. They spontaneously identified with the idea of caring and sharing for those who are less fortunate than us. An online classroom activity was conducted, in which the children shared why they choose to give a favourite toy to a brother or sister at Palna.

A PPT was showcased on Monday, 1 November 2021, to discuss with the children how they can celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali, by making rangolis using flower petals, food grains and natural colours. They were encouraged to decorate their homes with earthen diyas bought from local vendors instead of fancy electric lights. The children enjoyed painting and decorating diyas, an activity which was conducted on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Like no celebration is complete without music and dance, so the little ones displayed their enthusiasm in singing the rhyme This is the way we light the lamps and dancing to the song Happy Diwali.
