Special Assembly for Janamashtami and Independence Day

In Indian mythology, it is believed that whenever satanic values come to prevail on Earth and righteous values are suppressed, God embodies himself as a human being in order to uproot the vice and reestablish virtue. This is indeed the spirit behind celebrating Janamashtami where large numbers of people get together to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna.

The children of class 1-C celebrated Janamashtami on 9 August 2017. A group of children were delightfully dressed as Krishna, Indra and the Gopis! The skit staged by them encapsulated the story of the mighty Govardhan Parbat and Lord Indra.

The skit was followed by an Independence Day celebration. For this another group came The dressed as Mahatma Gandhi, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyaya, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose other freedom fighters. They spoke few lines each about the characters they were dressed as. They held aloft placards displaying some of the historic slogans used to stir the masses during the freedom struggle. The students carried little tricolour flags made by their teachers and their curiosity to know more about the various characters they were playing was evident on their faces.

The assembly added new awareness amongst the children about values in an enjoyable way.
