Special Assembly for Republic Day by class V.
A special assembly was conducted by the students of Class V on 23rd January to celebrate Republic Day.
The assembly began with the class choir singing a self-composed patriotic song, " apni dharti apna amber, apna Hindustan... The audience also got inspired to join and soon everyone was singing along!
A few students of class VA spoke on the qualities required to become an ideal citizen and also the different aspects of citizenship. Anoushka Saxena spoke on Kailash Satyarthi, Samiksha Nair spoke on Saina Nehwal, Sarwagya Puri on ' The ideal Indian', Nishita Sharma on Sania Mirza, Nayan Khatri on Sachin Tendulkar and Sehajnoor Kaur on Indian soldiers. It was impressive to note the stage presence each presenter displayed.

Next, there was a question/ answer session on the topic of Republic Day which was very informative. The students learnt about the drafting of the Constitution of India and why this particular day was named Republic Day. They also got to know about the basic rights guaranteed by the Constitution, especially the right to Justice social, political economic and liberty of thought and expression, belief and worship. An audio of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehrus famous words spoken at midnight on 14/15 August, 1947 was played for the children who silently listened as they heard.. 'At the stroke of the midnight hour, India will awake to life and freedom.the soul of the nation, long suppressed, finds utterance.
The students who took part in the session were Kriti and Ananya of VA, Auro, Atharve and Ishita of VB, Sarthak, Suhani, Sumati and Bharat of VC, Priyanshu, Samara, Barina and Sharanya of VD, and Asmita, Garv and Samay of VE.
Lakshay and Sam then played Vande Mataram on the flute and the assembly concluded with a dance by the children, colourfully dressed in national colours. The audience was very appreciative and happily joined step to the beat of Kahte hain hum pyar se, hum India wale.."
