Special Assembly for Teacher's Day by Class 2
Special Assembly for Teacher's Day by class 2
Class II-D presented a special assembly on 3 September, 2014 on the occasion of Teachers Day in the School auditorium wherein all the students in the class participated. The assembly began with a soulful rendering of the Guru Vandana by the choir of class 2. The compering was enthusiastically done by the children themselves. This was followed by an introduction to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan by Pratham, Arshi, Khushaal and Arshpreet. They spoke a few lines about his life and why his birth anniversary is celebrated as Teacher's Day. We were told that Dr. Radhakrishnan was a brilliant student from the very start and most of his studies were covered by scholarships. At the age of 17, he joined the Madras Christian College and attained his bachelor's and master's degrees in the field of philosophy. The 21-year-old Radhakrishnan, after graduating with accolades from Madras University, was selected as Assistant Lecturer at the Madras Presidency College and chose to work there.

A beautifully self-composed poem on the Teacher was recited as a group by the children. Every child had made an effort to learn the verse. This was followed by a classical dance presentation named the Guru-Ashtakam where the Guru-puja and the significance of the Guru were demonstrated with different movements. Our young dancers were Pronoy, Akshit and Samyak, Ram, Rishi, Ananya, Geet, Gurvani Shubhi and Gurmahima. The assembly concluded with the popular shloka, Gurur Brahma, ....
The children were encouraged by our Head Teacher, Mrs. Neena Maini who was present at the proceedings.
