Special assembly of Music Quiz, Valentine's Day.
Every teacher, specially extra-curricular teachers, yearn a feedback on the assimilation that has occurred. How does one achieve that, without having an assessment of sorts? Thus we began with the music quiz to be followed by Yoga and Skating. And were the extra-curricular and class teachers profoundly surprised!
The Pre-primaries held a special assembly as a Music Quiz to celebrate Valentines Day. The program started at 8:30 am sharp in tune with our dedication to punctuality in the AV room. The dcor was Hearts Galore and effectively set the ambience for the morning .
We began with a chat on how all hearts are precious. Be they friends, family, or the less privileged. It felt particularly pertinent on the occasion of Valentine's Day which is synonymous with loving and giving.
Over the past week, we had offered an opportunity to all the children to participate in the Music Quiz. 2 children per section were selected from the pre-primaries. They were trained and familiarised with the names of musical instruments and the famed names who play them with a PPT made by the teachers.

The musical scores of different songs which the children had learnt throughout the year were played by Lalit sir and the participants were asked to identify and even sing the first verse of the piece! The Quiz was divided into 4 categories for Pre-School and 5 categories for Pre-Primary. The children were able to recognise the music of over 35 songs. Examples of the categories were:
- Prayers-Gods love
- General I want to clap clap
- Festival Ram bade veer the
- Annual Day We are the little
- National songs-I salute my flag, nanha munna rahi hu etc. to name a few.
One could hear the hush and hum of anticipation. The air was thick with musical vibrations and the teachers were shushing the audience not to reveal the tune to the opposing team!
So there was Ms. Payal Kukreja managing the score board, hard- pressed and waiting eagerly for the decision from Lalit Sir; he,on the keyboard would play the tune that indicated that it was a correct answer.
All our adorable little team members be it the pre- primaries or the pre-schoolers in their innocence looked at their team mates to consult and slowly shook their heads in disappointment if they didnt know (which was rare). Their eyes danced in delight whenever they knew! When the correct piece was recognised the audience joined in, in the singing, clapping to the beat. They too seemed to love it.
The result was a very fine finish with just a point's difference: The winning team was PP-B for the PPs and for the pre- schoolers it was Capella section. Gifts were presented to all the participants by Principal Ms. Rashi Narula and our Head Teacher Ms. V Vasudev. The winners were awarded handmade crowns and sashes . All the children enjoyed an energetic dance to popular tunes before they returned to their classrooms to be greeted by lollipops from School for a wonderful Valentine' Day performance.
As told by Ms. Shikha Sharma & Ms. Mayor Bose.
