The culture of a nation resides in the hearts and the soul of its people.
The Pre-primary students at The Indian School celebrated the 73rd Republic Day in a special assembly on the virtual platform on 25 January, 2022.
The assembly commenced with a rousing tribute to the national anthem to set the ambience for the celebrations to follow. Parents and children alike rejoiced in its glorious rendition.
India has a rich culture and heritage, where people of all cultures live together in peace and harmony. The students effectively showcased this diversity by attiring in the colourful costumes of the various Indian states. They danced to a song on national integration-My name is Madhavi sunv by the noted Ms Usha Uthup. This song celebrates the diversity of India and introduces children to the names of places, the languages and traditions of the different regions of India.
The assembly echoed with patriotic fervour as the children sang several songs infused with the flavour of patriotism - ' Hum honge kaamyab', ' Ek do- ek do', and ' Nanha munha rahi hoon'. They wore the colours of the tricolour to mark the grand occasion.
A Republic Day celebration is incomplete honouring our brave soldiers of the armed forces, the army, navy and the air force. Aditya Rawat, Aarush Sandurea and Shivansh Prasad portrayed the three services dressed in their respective uniforms.
Introducing himself as an Indian army jawan, Aditya Rawat said he is brave and strong. He fights and protects his country from her enemies and the safety of his motherland is his priority. Aarush Sandurea told the audience that the IAF is also known as the Bhartiya Vayu Sena, and its motto is Touch the Sky with Glory. He flies fighter jets to protect his country from her enemies. Lastly, Shivansh Prasad played a naval officer and said that he works in a submarine to protect Indian maritime interests.
"We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create dreams."

The commemoration continued in the virtual classrooms, where teachers reiterated the reasons why we observe Republic Day. The little ones were all ears as their teachers encouraged them to inculcate a sense of responsibility towards their nation, work for her welfare, follow the rules diligently, keep their surroundings clean and respect all religions.
