I found that I could say things with COLOUR and SHAPES that I couldnt say any other way-things I had no WORDS for Georgia OKeeffe

Learning shapes is an important educational activity .The ability to recognize and describe shapes is a fundamental skill that provides a foundation for more advanced skills such as improvement in communication, greater creative skills, sorting objects, pre- reading and writing skills and geometry. Learning shapes is fun with the help of a shapes chart, worksheets, flashcards, games and educational toys. As always assemblies are an interactive medium of facilitating learning. Hercule section presented an assembly on Shapes. Children were divided into 7 groups representing the different shapes Circle, Triangle, Square, Rectangle, Heart, Diamond, Oval and Star. Each group was led by a leader followed by a group of children, as friends related to the shape. Each one spoke few lines describing the shape represented by the group. Although it was the first stage performance for many of them, every child performed enthusiastically. Little Hrida surprised everyone with her zeal and confidence as she spoke. Sammy square, Mihir got a round of applause for his enthusiastic performance.

The children held up cut-outs of shapes and also donned similar headgear. The choir looked colorful and came across very confident as they sang a song on shapes.

I see a Circle, I see a Square.. I see a Triangle sitting right there.. I see a Rectangle blue as can be.. Diamond and an oval looking right at me!

Every one present there repeated with the choir and learnt this rhyme on shapes. Vigorous response from the audience reflected the learning taking place.

As a recap activity, a ' Guess the Shape' activity was conducted in which the children from each group of shapes were asked to come forward. One participant from each class was asked to guess the shape of the picture shown. In the end, all the participants from Pre-School and Pre -Primary were rewarded with cut-outs of different shapes .

It was an edutainment activity for both teachers and students.
