Special assembly on Sustainable Development by class 9

We need to be conscious that that we have not inherited this earth from our forefathers but have borrowed it from our children.

Our planet is ailing and the world is on the verge of depletion. As the population increases there is also a growing need of resources. The only way to fulfil the demands of the present generation without compromising the needs of the future generations is through sustainable development.

Students of class IX presented an assembly on Sustainable Development, conveying the message of how we should progress sustainably and why.

The assembly started with news updates, a thought for the day, and a self composed poem on the theme of the assembly.

An important question was raised by referring to many news bites such as the California fires, the Rohingya refugees issue, the energy crisis etc. The question was - how to prevent the occurrence of these mishaps? And the answer was nothing else but Sustainable Development. To explain how this was possible, an interesting presentation was made by students in power point, on the A to Z of Sustainable Development.

The presentation clarified the principles of sustainable development, with some world wide, household steps to develop sustainably. Students were also reminded of the steps taken by the school under its Citizenship Programme.

To add more depth to the concept, students gave a presentation on Antibiotics. Although, they are one of the best methods to counteract the pathogen attack, but alas, now, even they are proving to be a failure. Several bacteria like the protozoa and other pathogens are now advancing to such an extent that they are successfully resisting the drugs and hence becoming a life threatening concern for the world.

The assembly concluded with all the students taking a pledge to promote sustainable development around the globe and to make it a part of our daily lives.
