Special assembly on the Importance of English by class 5 D

A special assembly on the importance of learning English was conducted on 21st April, 2017, in the auditorium for classes IV and V.

As we know, English has its unique importance in our country. It has played a crucial role in building modern India. In fact at present, it is the most used medium of communication globally.

Keeping this in mind, an English choral recitation was presented by all the sections of class V. It is a tested fact that choral reading ( reading aloud in unison by the entire class), helps build articulation, self-confidence and motivation. As students read aloud together, those who are ordinarily hesitant or self-conscious about reading aloud, get a chance to practice with a built-in support, as it were.

As we all know, poetry is rhythm and enthuses all ages easily. The children quickly relate to language and pronunciation if it is conveyed and repeated as a play of sounds and phonetics with with the timing of a beat. The play of words acquires a musical quality.

The children rose to the occasion with a repertoire of delightful verse on diverse topics like nature, trees, teacher, values, family, wildlife etc. They packed in a good dose of energy and feeling as they presented what they had prepared. The audience seemed attached with what they were hearing and even attempted to recite along when verses were repeated.

The attention and the applause at the end were abundant. The children seemed to have lovingly assimilated what was attempted by their teachers.
