Special Assembly on the Importance of Mathematics in our Daily Lives for classes 9 and 10
A special assembly on the theme, “The Importance of Mathematics in Our Daily Lives” was held on 2nd July, 2026, for the students of Classes IX and X. The assembly was conducted by the students of class IX.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome and introductory address by the student Masters of Ceremony (MCs), Aarna Yadav and Sarah Jillani. They conducted an entertaining mathematical tongue-twister activity, setting an enthusiastic and energetic tone for the assembly.
Following the introduction, Ruhan Bisht presented a video titled “Math – The Unsung Hero of Space Exploration.” After the screening, he delivered a brief yet informative talk explaining how precise calculations and algorithms are fundamental for navigation, fuel management, and trajectory planning in space missions.
Shifting the focus from space to everyday life, Arkaj Menon and Paridhi Singh delivered an insightful PowerPoint presentation on the practical applications of mathematics. Arkaj spoke about the overall importance of the subject and its indispensable role in finance and economics. Paridhi effectively illustrated how mathematics is embedded in daily activities, highlighting examples such as mental calculations used by local vendors, the importance of fractions in cooking and baking, and the role of time management in organising daily routines.
Adding a creative dimension to the programme, Parul Nagpal introduced a video titled “Mathematician Dance.” Following the presentation, she explained how dance incorporates patterns, coordination, rhythm, and timing, demonstrating that mathematical thinking is often at work even during artistic and physical activities.
Further enriching the assembly, Tanmay Virmani and Gitansh Taneja of Class X delivered another engaging PowerPoint presentation. They explored the diverse ways in which mathematics influences everyday life, its crucial contribution to space exploration and its growing significance in emerging technologies and future innovations.
The assembly concluded with Aarna Yadav and Sarah Jillani summarising the key takeaways from the programme. They also shared valuable study tips for the upcoming PT-1 examinations, encouraging students to remain consistent in their efforts, strengthen their foundational concepts, and approach their studies with confidence.
