Spell Bee Competition at Haridwar school

The earliest known evidence of the phrase Spelling Bee in print, dates back to 1850. The competition involves learning the correct spelling of words, their use in sentences and in multiple contexts. SpellBee is a competition in which contestants are asked to spell a broad selection of words, usually with a varying degree of difficulty.

To enhance language skills, Maa Anandmayee Memorial School, Haridwar held the Spelling Bee Competition on 25 July, 2015. The competition aimed at creating awareness of the possibilities of using varied words and expression.

4 students, Anoushka Basu and Vismay Chaddha of class VIIC and Saumya Saxena and Simran Narula of XC represented our School at the event. The programme commenced with a captivating dance performance, invoking the blessings of the Almighty. The chief guest at the occasion was Mr. Rajiv Bhalla from Doon School. The students were divided in two categories, junior and senior category. There were four oral rounds of Synonyms, Homophones, Homonyms, Spell-the-Word and Idioms and Phrases. 17 schools of the Northern Region participated in the competition. A group of moderators and spellers from the teaching community facilitated the the event. Both our teams performed brilliantly at the event. The young Indianites brought home the Rolling Trophy with great pride and joy. The competition provided a great forum to our children to learn new vocabulary and enhance their language skills.
