SPOT FIX and tree planting by the Citizenship Programme in the space beneath the South Extension Flyover on the Outer Ring Road on 19 March 2016

After the last spotfix at the same spot on 12 March, we followed up the work by planning to paint the rest of the pillars and plant trees around the pillars. Our young volunteers were Anoushka Basu, Shrey Gogia, Aamiya Rana, Krithi Bajaj and Rhea Khanna of class 8C. Our accompanying teachers were Ms. Chanda Sharma, Ms. Chandni Airi, Ms. Ritu Mehendirata and Ms. Rupinder Kaur. The coordination for the saplings was done by Ms. Poorvi Mehta.

The children began by finally scrapping off the remnants of torn posters on the pillars and followed it up with the touching up the matching pattern in red paint. Once all the 6 pillars were complete, the planting started around the pillars. After 2 hours, we wrapped up for the day with the pillars now sporting a new clean green look. Volunteers of New Delhi Rising are committed to maintaining the plants with us each alternate week.
