On 19th November 2016, the Citizenship Programme conducted a spotfix near AIIMS. The students of class 9 Meharpreet, Parth, Anmol, and Anadi were accompanied by Ms. Sangeeta Aswani. Students cleaned and repainted the wall along the side of the campus.
On the occasion, the volunteers of an organisation called BASICSHIT had brought along a portable toilet put together by them, which could be used by the public for a fee of Rs 2. There was a temporary unused public toilet in the area which was taken down and the volunteers put up this new toilet in its place. They had joined hands with the MCD to support an employee to maintain the toilet. The Rs. 2 collection would be used to pay the salary of the employee.
The children were given a detailed explanation of how this organisation had assembled this portable toilet. It was clearly an inspiration for the children and we hope it will get them thinking on new ideas.
