Spray painting workshop for class 3

The Indian School in collaboration with the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art conducted a workshop on spray painting for the students of class III on 20 August 2020 at 5 pm. The COVID-19 pandemic lockdown necessitated holding the session online via Zoom.

70 students along with their class teachers - Ms Sargam Sharma, Ms Diksha, Ms Rupinder Kaur, Ms Sushila Negi and Ms Upasanaa Bhalla attended the workshop conducted by Ms Saloni Aggarwal, the Nadar museum resource person.

The workshop highlighted the use of spray painting as an interactive tool for teaching and engaging small children.

The session initiated the children into the realm of art-making with a thought-provoking activity. They were asked to keep ready scissors, and a few drawing sheets preferably black. The innovative activity saw the students deftly cutting shapes of the Sun and the Moon. Next, the little artists were shown how to place the stencil on paper, and spray paint. The technique involved dipping a toothbrush in paint and spray- colouring over the entire sheet using their thumbs to create the spray effect.

Ms Aggarwal explained that they should wait for the coat of paint to dry before removing the stencil. On removing the cut-out, the nascent painters were delighted to see their colourful artistry. The silhouettes of the sun and the moon stood out vividly against the backdrop of vibrantly painted sheets.

The students thoroughly enjoyed learning in a comfortable environment. Ms Aggarwal won their little hearts with her easy teaching style and manner of speaking.

All the students came out with flying colours as they showed -off their paintings. The efforts of the students were appreciated and applauded by the resource person and the attending teachers.
