STEM activities for Pre school on National Science Day

National Science Day was observed in great enthusiasm by the Pre school students of The Indian School on 27 February 2026. The young learners participated in the celebration dressed as “Little Scientists,” creating an atmosphere of excitement and curiosity.

The programme commenced with a guided visit to the Chemistry, Physics, and Biology laboratories, where children were introduced to simple and age-appropriate scientific demonstrations. They observed a colour-changing chemical reaction in the Chemistry Lab, explored different types of mirrors in the Physics Lab, and viewed skeleton models and preserved insects in the Biology Lab—experiences that fostered observation skills and stimulated scientific curiosity.

The celebration further included engaging STEM-based hands'-on experiments designed to encourage experiential learning amongst the students. These activities enabled the children to actively explore basic scientific concepts while promoting enquiry-based learning.

The learners also watched two short science-based films, ‘Shrinking Shoes’ and ‘A Rainbow Every Day’, which effectively connected scientific ideas with everyday experiences in an enjoyable and comprehensible manner.

The event concluded on a joyful note as each child received a small working rocket model as a takeaway, reinforcing the spirit of scientific exploration. The thoughtfully planned programme successfully blended learning with enjoyment and provided meaningful exposure to the world of science. The celebration served as an effective platform to nurture curiosity, creativity, and an early interest in scientific learning among the young learners.
