Street Play on the Girl Child at Select Citywalk Mall
On 8 October, 2013, the students of class 11 boarded their buses in great excitement to head to the Select City Walk Mall . They were filled with a sense of pride because we were going to perform for a crying social cause and for the betterment of our society. We were going there to promote awareness about issues that are critical in todays world, namely, gender- equality, gender- sensitisation and female foeticide. The students were equipped with lots of colourful and meaningful posters that had been designed by us students in great dedication.
Our ' artists' of the street play were a team of extremely talented students with exceptional dancing and oratory skills, determined to make common people aware about these pressing issues. Infact as we entered the mall, we were quickly surrounded by a large and curious crowd which had collected around the spacious arena allotted for our performance.

Unlike other times when a general stage fright and apprehension or atleast an tingling uneasiness used to envelope the children this time they seemed free of all hesitation. They said they were filled with a special confidence, perhaps by the cause itself and by the persistent encouragement of their teachers.
Abundant enthusiasm kicked off the performance. It started with a dance depicting the plight of the unborn girl child who is either killed or if allowed to be born, subjected to inequalities from birth. The dancers performed with an intensity that seemed to move our onlookers. Everyone stood still as the performers concluded with loud cries of the messages of the occasion. As they took their bow, the play got a deafening applause from the hundreds of spectators who had, by then filled the galleries surrounding the atrium to the top!
Apparently the students' message had made it's mark that day.
