Summer adventure camp at Ranikhet for classes VIII, IX and XI

Visiting a hill station with greenery in abundance and fresh air all around is truly a blessing. A group of 84 students from classes VIII, IX and XI had the wonderful opportunity of participating in a summer camp at Ranikhet from 25 to 29 May 2023. The group was accompanied by 10 teachers.

The students boarded the appointed buses at night on 25 May and arrived at the venue in the morning. The rooms in fairy tale cottages were very inviting! They were spacious and clean. Each day, the students relished a delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner, served timely. Additionally, an eco-friendly outdoor cooking session was organised using equipment sourced from the surrounding woods.

The students also took part in various adventure activities such as the Magic Carpet and Ball Alignment, which engaged them both physically and mentally. These activities fostered teamwork and leadership skills among the students.

The next day, the students embarked on a thrilling trek through the dense woods of Ranikhet, at dawn. They partook of camping and enjoyed the breathtaking sights of the peaks. In the afternoon, they participated in navigation, orientation and treasure hunt activities. Later in the evening, the students dedicated effort to tidying up the hillside, wearing gloves and armed with quality garbage bags, to set an example, as it were, for a clean and green environment. After enjoying evening snacks, the students enjoyed a lively DJ dance party and a bonfire, followed by sumptious dinner.

The next morning, the group boarded their vehicles to visit Nainital, where they indulged in shopping for knick knacks to carry home and also visited the famous Naina Devi temple, known for its magnificent idol. At night, dinner was laid out at a restaurant in Kathgodam. The entire experience was memorable. At the group boarded back their buses for the journey home.

On the morning of the 29th, all the students arrived safely back at School and were received by their eager parents. The students and parents extended a special thanks to the teachers and coordinators who ensured the safety and enjoyment of the students at every step during the trip.
