Summer adventure camp at Sursingdhar

An adventure trip was planned for students of classes X and XI from 3rd to 7th June, 2017. 39 students along with 5 teachers went on this trip to Sursingdhar, Dhanaulti and Mussoorie.

Our excitement knew no bounds during our journey as we chatted and played with our friends.

But as they say, Theres many a slip between a cup and a lip, we we held up in a seemingly never-ending traffic jam at Haridwar on 4th June, the morning we were to arrive at the camp. We learnt the occasion was Ganga Dussehra and thousands of devotees had collected there for a holy dip! As a result, we had to stay overnight in Rishikesh. It was hard keeping seated in the bus for so long but our teachers kept us amused and distracted from discomfort.

The next day, we left for Sursingdhar at 5 am. Travelling up the heights was surely an amazing experience. We reached our resort and promptly got ready for the adventure activities.

We had a lot of fun doing the flying fox, rappelling and a round of trekking which was planned for us. After a a hard day we returned to the resort where a bonfire and music awaited us. It was an enchanting evening. What a great time we had eating and dancing with our friends and teachers!

The next day, on 6th June, we played team-building games and went treasure hunting through the beautiful locales around the resort. We were divided into 2 teams. We competed against the boys team; following the map and rushing past the boys to spot the treasure. This activity was to train us for team work.

Before we realised, the activities were done and it was time to leave. We started for Mussoorie in the afternoon. But as luck would have it, at Mussoorie, it started raining heavily. We were yet again captive in our buses for a length of time as the traffic crawled. But that did not bother us much. We had our friends for company. Besides, a box of pizza each was enough to cheer us up quickly!

We reached School on 7th June at around 5:30 in the morning. We dispersed with our parents happy and contented, full of stories and experiences to share.

It was a great learning experience for us as we learnt to be patient during testing times! I am sure our teachers would be proud of us for that. We would love to have more such educational trips in future, where we not only have fun, but also get a taste of life's lessons.
