Summer Internship at Hotel Crowne Plaza

Internship programmes are a great way to empower students by giving them a quick glimpse into a plethora of career options available to them besides providing them a first hand experience to learn a trade.

On 2 June 2014 four students of our School, Shrishti Gupta, Sarthak Surya, Parthvi Munjal and Deepali Khandelwal of class XI-C along with their teacher, Ms. Geetu Bali went to Hotel Crowne Plaza, Okhla to avail of the wonderful opportunity to intern for four days at the hotel.

On the first day, the students were welcomed and briefed about the Intercontinental Group, its vision, history and its portfolio of brands by Mr. Barun Jolly, General Manager of the hotel. They were taken on a round of the hotel, its various departments such as Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Front Office, Finance, I.T., Engineering etc and introduced to personnel who explained the functioning of each department. The students were also given a special programme developed for their 4 days of training.

On subsequent days, the group was assigned to the departments of their choice and shown various duties under their assigned personnel heads. On the last day, as a special treat, they availed a fun opportunity in the hotel kitchen where they assembled a Thai curry and an iced cake!

The brief but invaluable insights from the training in the hospitality sector was indeed memorable for the trainees.
