Talk on higher studies overseas

It is often said that success depends on preparation and indomitable determination. To prepare students for the future and introduce them to options available, a career counseling session was organised on 28th September 2016 in the School premises.

The session had representatives from The University of Texas at Arlington, briefing us about the pros and cons of studying abroad. Among the representatives was Miss Dara M. Newton, Executive Director, University Recruitment, responsible for the Universitys enhancement in India and development of relationships with Indian universities, and Mr. Jay Horn, Executive Director, International Education. Ms. Newton has over 20 years of experience in the fields of recruitment and admissions, while Mr. Horn has over 30 years of experience in the field of international education and has even taught at universities in China and Korea.

The session started with a brief introduction of the university. The University of Texas at Arlington is among the most diverse universities of the US, ranked the 5th most diverse university. It admits 1800 international students every year, of which 1200 are Asian students.

The students were briefed about the plethora of courses offered by the university which include Aeronautical Engineering, Nursing, Liberal Arts, Nanotechnology, Robots, Marketing and many others. The application process was simplified and explained to the students and they were also made aware of the various scholarship schemes available to them.

This was followed by Mr. Horn answering the queries of the students regarding the University as well as the benefits of studying abroad during these competitive times. The session ended with a vote of acknowledgement to all the representatives.
