Teacher workshop-grooming and personality development for teachers.
Everyone is born unique-we all possess traits that set us apart and these traits define who we are and how we respond to situations. To enhance ourselves we only need to spot and elevate that, possibly yet dormant inclination or aptitude. This is where personality development becomes essential in the modern professional world.
On 19th December 19, 2017, teachers of Pre Primary attended a workshop on personality development conducted by Ms. Ritu Singh, Head Teacher of the department. She started by discussing how a person gets quickly judged on the basis of appearance and non-verbal communication. Teachers agreed and responded that dress sense and overall countenance contribute to this.

Ms. Singh elaborated, stating that personal grooming is therefore an integral part of our being. One needs to be appropriately dressed as it boosts our confidence, making for a happier countenance and an optimistic approach to ones work. In addition to physical appearance, one should be sensitive about personal hygiene, she added. Ms. Singh shoes and hair must also be taken into account as factors that make for your overall demeanour. Tidy and smart is what is required.
Another personality trait that was touched upon was communication skill. Here individuals must be circumspect about etiquette/manners and pleasantries. These too make for a happy countenance.
An activity was conducted where each teacher had to name a personality that they idolised and share two attributes that they like about them and how much of these have they ingrained.
It was a lively interactive session and prompted us to stop short and revisit ourselves, as it were, to see where we can work on improvements. Above all we must continuously remind ourselves that we are role models for the children in our care and need to present our best.
